Cincinnati Nature Center

  • Print Design

Print advertising is a vital asset at Cincinnati Nature Center, with materials ranging from magazines to billboards strategically placed in high-traffic areas. These materials are used to share news about upcoming events, membership opportunities, wayfinding information, and more. I had the opportunity to contribute on several projects, both large and small, and even lead on a few initiatives of my own.

  • Motion Design

During my co-op rotations, I actively honed my motion design skills through video editing, audio recording, and animation. On several projects, I had full creative control over both the design and final outcome. I regularly incorporated my own illustrated assets into my work, particularly for use on the website, YouTube channel, and occasionally for external media outlets.

  • social media

I frequently contributed to social media initiatives, a role that allowed me to tap into my creativity and storytelling skills. My work included writing scripts, filming videos, illustrating visuals for digital platforms, developing promotional strategies, and brainstorming fresh content ideas to enhance engagement.

print design

newsleaf.

Newsleaf is a magazine created for members of the Cincinnati Nature Center published three times a year. It features engaging seasonal articles written by staff, volunteers, and local experts, all designed in-house. I had the opportunity to contribute to the spring edition, assisting our senior designer throughout all phases of production. My responsibilities included supporting layout design, typesetting, and sourcing imagery to complement the editorial content.

way-finding & informative signage.

During my time at the Cincinnati Nature Center, I designed a series of on-campus signage to provide clear directional guidance and informative support for members and visitors.

print advertising.

I had the opportunity to lead and contribute to several print advertising projects throughout Cincinnati. I supported our Cincinnati Gives campaign by creating custom illustrations, and I also took the lead on two major projects: designing a billboard featured in multiple high-traffic areas around the city, and creating a full-page ad for Cincinnati Magazine.

event signage.

The Cincinnati Nature Center hosts a wide range of events and activities for both members and non-members. I was responsible for designing event signage used for promotion, wayfinding, informational displays, and sponsor recognition.

motion design

animation.

Education is a major priority at the Cincinnati Nature Center, which is where the Nature Preschool plays an important role. To help parents prepare their children for school, I created a three-minute animated video. I wrote and recorded the script, edited the audio, sourced the background music, and brought all elements together into a clear and helpful resource for families.

gifs.

Creating animated GIFs was a lower-priority task I took on during extra time, but it added creative value to the organization’s digital presence. These GIFs are now used across the website, email campaigns, and as social media stickers for various events and pages.

social media

graphics.

Brainstorming, planning, and creating social media content was an additional responsibility I took on during my co-ops. I leveraged illustration and typographic exploration to design engaging posts tailored to our audience that aligned with the brand’s voice.

videos.

In addition to designing graphics for social media, I also created videos using various filming and editing platforms. These videos highlighted events, campaigns, and engaging moments to excite and connect with members. A standout project was a four-part video series for our Cincinnati Gives campaign, which involved writing original scripts and coordinating with multiple staff members throughout the filming process.
